The economic impact of euro '96

This report highlights the importance of Euro '96 for economic regeneration and tourism development in the eight English host cities and related regions by utilising an expenditure-based multiplier approach to estimate the economic impact of this major sports event held in the England during a three week period in the summer of 1996. The data presented attempts to illustrate that a spectator intensive event can have a significant economic impact on local economies as a result of the additional expenditure generated by event-related tourists. Further the evaluation attempts to illustrate that those cities and towns not directly hosting the tournament were also substantial beneficiaries of the additional expenditure generated by the tournament.Literatuurverwijzing: Dobson, N., Holliday, S., & Gratton, C.
